SS IPTV Review (2026) – Free Smart TV IPTV Player

SS IPTV (Simple Smart IPTV) is a free IPTV player for Smart TVs that has quietly become one of the most-used players on LG and older Samsung sets. This review covers what it is, how to install it on each TV brand, how to add an M3U playlist, how to fix a blank EPG, and the one confusion that trips up almost everyone β€” SS IPTV versus Smart IPTV.

star Quick Verdict

SS IPTV is the easiest way to get an IPTV playlist onto a Smart TV without an Android box. It is free, needs no activation and no MAC registration, and runs natively on LG, Samsung, Philips and Sony televisions. It is not as feature-rich as TiviMate, and the EPG needs a manual step, but for a no-cost, no-hardware player it is hard to beat.

What is SS IPTV?

SS IPTV β€” short for "Simple Smart IPTV" and developed by ss-iptv.com β€” is a free IPTV player built specifically for Smart TVs. Unlike most IPTV apps, it is not an Android app: it installs from each TV manufacturer's own app store and plays a playlist you provide. It hosts no channels of its own, so you pair it with an IPTV subscription or a free public playlist.

Its appeal is that it needs no extra hardware, no sideloading and no third-party MAC registration. If your TV is supported, you install the app, paste an M3U URL, and your channels appear as a tile on the home screen. That simplicity is why it remains popular with LG and older Samsung owners.

If you are unsure whether you need a player or a service, read What is IPTV? first β€” the two are always separate.

How to Add an M3U Playlist to SS IPTV

Method 1 β€” Paste the M3U URL on the TV

Open SS IPTV, press Settings, go to Content β†’ External Playlists, press Add, enter a name and paste your M3U URL, then Save. Your channels appear as a new tile on the main screen.

Method 2 β€” Upload with a code

In Settings β†’ General, press Get Code. The code is valid for 24 hours. On a computer, open ss-iptv.com, enter the code, upload your M3U file and save β€” it is pushed to the TV as "My Playlist".

Step 3 β€” Open your channels

Return to the main screen and select your playlist tile to browse categories and start watching.

Fix the EPG (Blank TV Guide)

SS IPTV does not scan channels for programme data automatically. You must declare the guide source at the very top of your M3U playlist, before the first channel entry:

#EXTM3U x-tvg-url="https://your-provider-epg-url.xml"

Ask your provider for an XMLTV EPG URL, or use a public guide. If you host the XMLTV file yourself, the server must send an Access-Control-Allow-Origin: * header or the guide will fail to load even with the correct URL.

See our EPG guide for more on XMLTV sources.

SS IPTV vs Smart IPTV (SIPTV)

These two apps have almost identical names and are constantly confused. They are built by different developers and are not interchangeable.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is SS IPTV?

SS IPTV (Simple Smart IPTV) is a free IPTV player for Smart TVs and Android devices, developed by ss-iptv.com. It plays your own M3U playlist on LG, Samsung, Philips and Sony Smart TVs plus Android TV, with no activation fee and no MAC-address registration.

Is SS IPTV free?

Yes. SS IPTV is completely free with no activation and no in-app purchases. It is a player, so it includes no channels β€” you still need your own M3U playlist from an IPTV provider or a free public playlist.

What is the difference between SS IPTV and Smart IPTV (SIPTV)?

They are two different apps. SS IPTV (ss-iptv.com) loads a playlist by pasting a direct M3U URL or using a temporary upload code, and stays free. Smart IPTV / SIPTV (siptv.app) uses MAC-address activation, ties your playlist to your TV's MAC, and charges a one-time activation fee after a trial. Mixing them up is the most common setup mistake.

What devices does SS IPTV support?

SS IPTV supports LG Smart TVs (LG Content Store), Samsung Smart TVs (Smart Hub, with older sets loading it via USB), Philips Smart TVs (launched from the browser at app.ss-iptv.com), Sony Smart TVs from 2013 onward (beta), and Android TV / Android devices via Google Play.

How do I add an M3U playlist to SS IPTV?

Open SS IPTV, go to Settings, then Content, then External Playlists, press Add, name the playlist and paste your M3U URL, then Save. Alternatively use Get Code: note the code shown on the TV (valid 24 hours), open ss-iptv.com on a computer, enter the code and upload your M3U file.

Why is my SS IPTV EPG empty?

SS IPTV does not scan for programme data automatically. You must declare an EPG source by adding the directive x-tvg-url with your provider's XMLTV URL at the very top of the M3U playlist, before the first channel entry. Without it, the guide stays blank. See our EPG guide.

Why is SS IPTV not loading or showing a black screen?

First check the internet connection and try opening ss-iptv.com in the TV browser. If that fails, set a public DNS such as 8.8.8.8 (Google) or 1.1.1.1 (Cloudflare) in the TV network settings. Also refresh the playlist, since providers sometimes change the M3U URL or server address.
